Core Safety Camera Sites
Click on the link to the left to access our interactive map of core safety camera sites. Enforcement at our core sites is provided using fixed speed cameras or through regular visits by mobile speed camera enforcement units.
Exceptional Safety Camera Enforcement
In addition to the regular enforcement provided at core safety camera sites, enforcement can also take place anywhere else on the highway network from time to time. This is usually undertaken at sites where there may have been collisions, but not at a level to warrant designation as a core site, and/or where there has been been public concern raised by residents and/or community representatives. This exceptional site enforcement is undertaken by the Partnership's mobile enforcement units or by local Police Casualty Reduction Officers (CROs) and is typically less frequent and often undertaken at short notice. We do not always know where it will take place in the future or how long it will last. Therefore it is not included on our interactive map. However a list of previous exceptional enforcement sites is provided below for you to download should you wish.
M3 J2/M25 J12 Average Speed Cameras
These cameras were originally set up in 2007 as part of a pilot scheme to cut traffic congestion at the M3/M25 intersection. The two year trial proved so successful that it was made permanent in 2009.
For more details of the scheme please go to the Highways Agency website at:

Temporary Road Works Enforcement
From time to time we may be commissioned to undertake speed enforcement while temporary road works are taking place. This is usually provided in conjunction with a temporarily reduced speed limit to ensure the safety of road workers and other road users. Due to their temporary nature these are not included on our interactive map. At the time of writing (August 2010) there is one scheme currently active in Surrey. More information can be located on the Highways Agency's website using the link below.
M25 Variable Speed Limit Enforcement
In 1995 the Highways Agency installed a variable speed limit system between junctions 10 and 16 of the M25 to encourage improved traffic flow along this stretch. Gantry-mounted speed cameras were installed by the Highways Agency to enforce the variable speed limit. Since 2000, the Metropolitan Police has been responsible for enforcement of the variable speed limit in Surrey (between junctions 10 and 15). Therefore these are not shown on our interactive map of core safety camera sites as these are not owned or operated by Surrey Safety Camera Partnership.
